What to Bring to Our Consultation

In order to have your license reinstated or to effectively manage any other traffic law issue, organization is critical. It is important for your attorney and for you personally. Without proper documentation and records to present to a judge or other decision-maker, it is very difficult to accomplish your goals. At the Alan E. Jones, Attorney at Law, I have devoted more than 30 years to helping people deal with traffic violations, DUI and driver’s license issues. I know that a conviction, even for a seemingly minor traffic offense, can have a great impact on you and your ability to earn a livelihood. I understand what it takes to win tough cases and help you keep your driver’s license.

Organizing for Our Meeting

If you are serious about seeking driver’s license reinstatement, organization is key. You should start a file, and place everything related to the driving situation in it. Examples of what to put in the file are:

  • “Court purposes” driving record — obtained from the Illinois Secretary of State with $12 and three forms of identification
  • Alcohol and drug evaluations
  • Treatment documentation (if applicable)
  • Communications to and from the Secretary of State
  • Court documents
  • Old tickets
  • Old police reports

You should bring all of these documents along when you come in to talk to me. Having them will be a great help in figuring out what I can do to help you. In addition to the file, you should also bring a current copy of your driving record.

Issues for Out-of-State Drivers

I regularly assist out-of-state drivers with any Illinois traffic issues they may face. If your license was suspended or revoked in your home state because of traffic violations or DUI in Illinois, I am ready to help you get your license reinstated. If possible, you should have a copy of your driving record from your home state and any other state where you have had a traffic issue. If you cannot get a copy, I may be able to call the Secretary of State and get the information, so long as you have your Social Security number, date of birth and driver’s license number.

An Experienced and Passionate Illinois Traffic Lawyer

I bring both knowledge and integrity to your side. As a longtime member of the Traffic Law Section of the Illinois State Bar Association, I have a firm understanding of traffic laws and revocation rules administered here and in other states. I will clearly outline the legal process and passionately defend your rights.
