Fraudulent Driver’s License and State ID Hearings
Do You Have a Fake Illinois Driver’s License or State Identification Card?
In the past, before Temporary Visitor’s Driver’s Licenses (TVDL) became available, you had to provide a Social Security number to the Secretary of State in order to obtain a license or ID card. For many people who were underage or immigrants who lacked a valid Social Security number, they would often use fictitious birth certificates and social security numbers.
While this may have seemed advantageous at the time, it is very possible that it will catch up to you and result in a cancellation of your driving privileges. The Illinois Secretary of State uses facial recognition software when they take your photograph. That means, if your photo is in their system with two different names, the system can match the photos like fingerprints.
I am Alan E. Jones and I work to get Illinois residents back on the road and back to their everyday lives when they face traffic or criminal charges with the state. This can be a confusing issue to navigate alone, but my law firm is here to help.
What Happens When You Are Caught With a Fake License?
If you haven’t been caught, I can help you get ahead of the problem. If you are caught with a fake license or with two identities, you will ultimately need to resolve this issue with the state of Illinois by admitting to your guilt and turning over any fake documents. You will typically suffer a one-year suspension as a penalty, but this is the first step toward getting a valid license or identification.
If you do not have a valid Social Security number and need to drive, I may also help you obtain a Temporary Visitor’s Driver’s License, or TVDL. If you qualify, this temporary license allows you to drive without a Social Security number.
